Fire-fighting Services
The fire is an accidental event at high risk for the safety of workers and the integrity of the structures and corporate assets. Prevention and timeliness in the intervention remains one of the most effective actions to prevent the onset, slow the possible development and prevent the massive spread of flames that make it difficult for any subsequent extinguishing action.
The S.M.S. includes expert and trained personnel in order to prevent, monitor and intervene with the necessary competence and effectiveness.
Fire Prevention
As part of a systematic approach aimed at fighting the fire, the S.M.S. performing a fire risk assessment aimed at improving the active protection systems. Same time a check is made of the behavior of the staff to ensure the adequacy of control procedures; if the personal responsibility provides for the review of the procedures according to risk assessment and current regulations mandates.
Fire Vigilance
Vigilance is active and integral part of prevention. The role of supervision is one of the key points of a proper prevention as a timely warning and in case an effective first intervention, allowing most of the time to limit the damage caused by an uncontrolled fire. The S.M.S. has experienced and trained staff for proper supervision and effective intervention in case of fire.
Emergency Intervention
Emergency interventions are headed to the Ministerial Decree 10 March 1998. The procedures for use of the staff of S.M.S. shall be governed by the emergency procedure of the purchaser and the S.M.S. shall provide for staff training to allow proper integration of the staff with the provisions of procedures.
Vigilance during bunkering ships
The fire vigilance during the fuel refueling of ships is regulated by national and port dispositions. The S.M.S. has authorized staff such supervision and trained to check that the operations carried out in accordance with the dictates of the rules. Surveillance and fire prevention is also required on the jetties, on the docks and for work with fire on ships. The S.M.S. has the authorization required to carry out in support the Watchkeeping to the fires for port activities described.
Supplementary Fire Service
Special activity and increasingly required in recent years: through this service and following the set of mandatory standards, S.M.S. offers:
- Surveillance and fire prevention on the jetties and docks where tank ships operate;
- Connection and disconnection of hoses for liquid handling and / or flammable products during loading or unloading operations;
- Ship Surveillance and related lines during liquid transfers and / or flammable product;
- Sprinkler system management;
- First intervention of extinguishing fire;
- Use of pumps for extinguishing fire, flushing, fluid transfer and / or inflammable products and pressings lines.
